A true pandemic, like the H1N1 bird flu, will have a death rate of around 60%. One thing you should have learned from our experiences with the last pandemic is the government is useless. They will not help, and we are not ready to handle this situation. After 9-11, a stockpile was made for such an emergency but was never resupplied and could have only assisted one or two cities.

You will have to isolate. The master bedroom is usually the best place to isolate someone. The person caring for them should wear a plastic suit with goggles, gloves, and a N95 mask to interact with them.
These items should be discarded after each visit. The person interacting should also be isolated from the other individuals in the group and monitored for symptoms. Healthy individuals should be kept at the other end of the home. Shut down ventilation to the sick room.
Stock up on supplies now. N95 masks were impossible to find during the pandemic, but now they are filling clearance bins. Hand sanitizer is available in gallon-sized for cheap right now. Stock it while you can.

Dave Jones
A 24-year veteran of the U.S. Army and retired Army Chemical Officer, David Jones taught nuclear biological and chemical warfare defense to military personnel all over the world.
Being recognized as a weapon of mass destruction expert, six months after 9/11 occurred David was recalled to active duty. He spent the next 22 months in the Middle East traveling to 16 different countries conducting vulnerability assessments on US interests in the area.
David is now an emergency management specialist working for the Federal Government and has worked with Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, NASA and US Air Force Global Strike Command where he was the only civilian on a nuclear weapons accident response team.
David has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s degree in Security Management and has numerous awards from the military and civilian organizations. His most amazing accomplishment to date was that he became a father for the first time at age 50.
